Well finally Apple have broken with tradition and actually responded to demand rather than being the trend setters they have so successfully been up till now. I'd love to think they listened to me by reading my blogs but I very much doubt it. When Samsung launched the 10.1 with the S-pen I was convinced Apple had something better up their sleeve and it would be just a matter of time before they launched it and if Samsung hadn't already supplied me with a tablet I would probably have wasted a lot of time hanging around waiting for it to happen.
I was convinced they had missed a trick but as time went on I started to think that maybe I had overestimated the general public's desire for a pen stylus and perhaps as a caricature artist I had a distorted view. Whenever I tried to explain what an advantage Samsung had gained with the introduction of the s-pen I would always be told, 'But the iPad does have a pen' I grew tired of explaining that it is not an Apple product but a stick with a bit of rubber on the end and wasn't in the same league which always drew a further remark that 'Hockney didn't seem to have much trouble'
However it seems that I was right after all and for reasons known only to themselves Apple have finally gone and done it and the new iPad Pro will indeed come with the much needed pen stylus. You would like to think that Apple, who have always been considered 'the standard' where computer graphics are concerned, will have produced something that rivals, if not surpasses, the Samsung s-pen.
Can't wait to cast aside my 'stick with a bit of rubber on the end' and get to test out the new kid on the block. Watch out Mr. Hockney!
