This was my first time in the summit of the famous pickle at Sarceys Restaurant and it was nearly my last. Just as my client and I had cheekily found a seat in the Private Members club on the penultimate floor below the restaurant there was an announcement, 'There is a fire in the building please evacuate.' 1800 (my estimate) steps later we spilled out onto the street where we were greeted by a security guard who apologetically informed us we could return as soon as we wished as it was a false alarm.
Fortunately the rest of the evening was alarm free. On this occasion I was working with the guys from Luma and drawing graphic notes, for want of a better phrase, on their digital screen for our client Berkeley. This is an 80" monitor that you draw directly on to with, as per the iPad, your finger or a stylus.
The guests were briefed to feed me with anecdotes from years of company bashes and I sketched them out on the digital screen whilst they looked on. A bit like Improv theatre you never know whats coming next but judging by the feedback and the atmosphere on the night it went well.
Dear Rick,
I just wanted to say a massive thank you for last night. The wall and your artwork was a huge success, and everyone is talking about the pictures and memories today .It really made the evening, and I hope we’ll get the chance to do something similar again in the future.
Take care, and thanks once again
Jenny
